Cascades return favour


The UFV Cascades volleyball teams avenged their earlier season losses by defeating the Bearcats.

In women's action, the 'Cats stormed back from 0-2 deficit to force a fifth and deciding set.  In the fifth, CBC took control and had match point at 14-13 before the Cascades rallied off three straight points to win 16-14.  Scores of the match were 19-25, 11-25, 25-21, 25-22, 16-14.

On the men's side, the 'Cats go off to the start they wanted and led by as much as five points in the opening set.  CBC served for set point at 25-24, but two costly unforced errors eventually allowed the Cascades to take the first set 28-26.  Despite winning the second set 25-14, the Bearcats lost the third set 25-16 and with the game tied 22-22 in the fourth, the Cascades answered with three straight points to take the match 25-22.

Evan Schmidt led the 'Cats with 15 kills.

CBC hosts the VIU Mariners January 22-23 at CBC.
