QUEST - Course Descriptions
Spiritual Formation
*Discipleship
This small group discipling process guides students to develop
lifelong, obedient relationships with Christ. Individuals are challenged
through in-depth Bible study, worship and prayer support to be authentic
followers of Jesus.
Spiritual Formation Retreat
This course will help students discover intimacy with God and
further their understanding of God’s will through study and practice in
spiritual disciplines. Several
instructors will facilitate a 3-day retreat revealing many of the practices
used in pursuing and experiencing God.
*Service Practicum
This course includes several opportunities for students to give
away what they are being given.
Experiences in urban ministries, the local food bank, a Third-world
distribution centre, servant evangelism, and cross-cultural exposure are
designed to challenge individual inhibitions and broaden perspective.
Biblical Studies
*Old Testament Survey
An introduction to the major divisions of the Old Testament,
including an orientation to the following areas: inspiration, principles of
interpretation, canon, text, world of the Old Testament, historical background,
archaeology, theology, criticism, literary forms, and apocryphal writing.
*New Testament Survey
An introduction to the major writings of the New Testament,
including an orientation to the field of New Testament studies in the following
areas: inspiration, principles of interpretation, canon, text, world of the Old
Testament, historical background, archaeology, theology, criticism, literary
forms, and apocryphal writing.
*Principles of Biblical Interpretation
A study of the principles of Biblical interpretation used in both
the Jewish and Christian traditions, including the application of methods to
the major literary genres of the Bible.
*Introduction to Theology
This course provides an introduction to the language and systems
of Christian theology. Special emphasis is given to God and His self-revelation
as well as theological emphasis, which characterize an evangelical
perspective. Students will also be
exposed to some important seasons in Church history.
Anabaptist Theology Seminar
This one-day intensive course is designed to highlight the
distinctives of the Anabaptist heritage and its place in Church history.
Evangelism and Missions
*Evangelism
Ideally suited for those who feel they don’t have the gift of
evangelism, this course helps Christians understand how to make sharing the
good news a natural part of their everyday lives.
*Christian Apologetics
This is an introduction to the nature and methods of defending the
Christian faith, including an examination of the evidence for and the arguments
against the Christian worldview.
*World Religions
This course is an analytical and critical study of the phenomena,
conceptual patterns, and sacred texts of some of the major Eastern and Western
non-Christian religions.
Cross-cultural Missions Preparation
This course prepares those students who apply for one of the
optional cross-cultural trips. In the
last 6 years Quest has established important relationships to a diverse group
of missionaries and ministries in Baja, Mexico. These relationships provide the framework for exposure to
Missions in Native ministries, Medical ministries, Service projects,
Orphanages, and local churches. Quest
has also taken groups of students to Kenya, Uganda and India. The specific trip locations have changed
from year to year.
Leadership Development
Career Planning
What career is best for you? Professional career assessment
inventories will provide you with clearer insight into choosing your career
pathway. A trained career counsellor will be available for individual
consultation and interpretation of inventories.
Leadership
This course examines the fundamentals of Christian leadership.
Attention is given to both leadership principles and examples of Christian
leaders who are making a difference in Christ’s name.
*Christian Ethics
How do you determine right from wrong? Because this is sometimes a
complicated question it is important to have a Biblical basis for our thinking
and decision-making. This course also
challenges students to engage in the most pressing ethical issues of the
present day.

Introduction to Low Impact Wilderness
Hiking, Camping, and Backpacking
Introduction to Rock Activities
Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Caving, and High Ropes Course
Introduction to Water Recreation
Canoeing, Tall-ship sailing, Team canoeing and/or surfing
