STUCO (student council)

The purpose of STUCO is to serve and lead the students of Columbia Bible College. The members of STUCO do this by being visible and visionary Christian leaders, demonstrating and encouraging Christ-like behavior and creating an environment that fosters good friendship and community. They also encourage and enable students to get involved and interact with the general student body, faculty/staff, and the wider community.

The members of STUCO are:

The Executive (President, Secretary, and Treasurer)

Representatives (for Freshmen /First Year Students, and Upperclassmen/ 2-4th year Students, Commuter Rep, Resident Rep)

Team Leaders of each Team (Committee)

The Advisor/Leadership Coach (Dean of Students, who is a member of the College’s Administrative Team; each STUCO team will also have a team coach [advisor])

The STUCO Teams:

STUCO is also comprised of different Teams (committees). STUCO Teams are for the general Student Body to get involved in. The purpose of STUCO Teams is to enhance community life through student involvement in service and leadership.

The Spiritual Life Team:
The mission of the Spiritual Life Team is encouraging spiritual formation of the CBC community and the expression of that spiritual formation, both individually and corporately.

Some of the events the Spiritual Life Team plans for are: Prayer Day, 24/7 Prayer Week, Spiritual Emphasis Week, International Day of Prayer

The Spiritual Life Team provides leadership for prayer days, chapel input, the prayer chapel, spiritual retreats and other activities. Team members will model and plan for others to join them in praying for students, participation in service projects and involvement in chapel.

Missions/Outreach Team:
Exists to encourage students to be involved in making disciples of all people. Responding to the love of God, the command of Christ and the leading of the Holy Spirit, we send students to share spiritually and physically in ministry to the whole person.

Some of the events the Missions/Outreach Team plan for are: Mission Trips, Community BBQ, Vancouver Outreach, Mission Emphasis Week

The Missions and Outreach Team will provide interested students with mission opportunities (annual missions trips) for students and other outreach events into the community (i.e. Community BBQ, Carnivals, etc.) This team will also address the needs for “World awareness.”

Social/Recreation Team:
Exists to provide opportunities for the building of relationships, social enjoyment, and interaction among the students. They also promote and provide opportunity for physical and social wellness, as well as develop a sense of community through participation of variety of recreational programs.

Some of the events the Social Committee puts on are: Talent Shows, Movie Nights, BC Lions game, Indoor Soccer Tournament, Out door Volleyball tournament. Also included in this are “Welcome Back” events in September for new and returning students, the Christmas Banquet, winter fun, out-door opportunities, etc.

Art & Communication:
This team will promote the arts in the college community by arranging concerts, exhibitors, etc… and will facilitate the development of artistry and craft within the community. The communication aspect of the committee exists to serve the body of Christ and worship God through the medium of spoken and written words, and to present the student body with opportunities to speak and be heard.

Some of the events the Arts and Communications Team will put on are: “Spirit Week,” the Wittenberg Door, art shows, skits/drama for college assemblies, concerts, news articles etc.
